Auf die Spur des damaligen Abiturienten war die Polizei gut drei Wochen nach dem Mord gekommen. Reste eines verschwundenen Telefons, ein abgerissenes Kabel und vor allem die Chat-Kontakte führten zur Festnahme des jungen Mannes in der Wohnung seiner Eltern.

The police had found the track to the high-school graduate he was at that time a good three weeks later. Rests of a vanished telephone, a ripped off cable and in first line the chat contacts led to the seizure of that young man in the domicile of his parents.

Zuvor hatte die Polizei mehr als 300 Schüler des Gymnasiums in Wetter, das Nadine besucht hatte, zu einer Speichelprobe gebeten. Der DNA-Abgleich unter anderem mit in der Nähe des Tatortes sichergestellten Zigarettenpackungen führte jedoch nicht zum Erfolg.

Before that the police had asked more than 300 pupils of the high-school  in Wetter that Nadine had attended to give a saliva sample. But the DNA comparisions amongst others with cigarette packs assured near by the place of action  weren´t successful.
